Cataract: The growth of age, physical and chemical injuries would reduce the function of lens and cause cataract. Age-related cataract, the most typical one, is widely seen among those who are aged 50 or above. The prevalence rate goes up to 100% among those aged 80 or above. Which is caused by the degeneration of the lens and other variables, such as age, profession, gender, UV radiation, diabetes, hypertension, and nutritional status.

Examination Regular slit lamp examination can confirm the diagnosis. If you decide to take an  treatment, you should take a detailed eye examination in advance.

Treatment Until now, pharmacological therapy has not been able to effectively prevent or reverse the turbidity of the lens. Therefore, surgical treatment remains to be the primary solution for various kind of cataracts, the common surgical method is phacoemulsification operation.

It’s a surgical method to remove turbid lens with the applying of ultrasonic energy. The operation time can be shortened within 5-10 minutes. The visual acuity recovers faster and the corneal astigmatism is smaller. To complete the operation, all that required is topical anesthesia/h3>

Femtosecond lasers are gradually applied to ophthalmology. It has been proved that the femtosecond laser has the shortest pulse, which is goes perfect for the eye operation that requires high precision. With the help of computerized scanning during the whole process, cataract operation is now more precise and safer, meanwhile it significantly improves patients 'visual acuity afterwards.
