"The vision in my left eye feels better than my right eye, I can see things clearly, I am very satisfied." Recently, 84-year-old Mr. Han underwent refractive cataract surgery at Shenyang Excellence AIER Hospital, after which his vision in his left eye improved from 0.1 to 0.8. He was also one of the first patients in China to undergo the new generation of TECNIS Toric II astigmatism-correcting IOL surgery.
Professor Jinsong Zhang, head of the Cataract Group of AIER Hospital Group, General Director of AIER Hospital Group Liaoning Province and President of Excellence AIER Hospital Shenyang, performed the surgery.
As the world's top-ranked blindness-causing eye disease, cataract surgery is still the only proven effective treatment for cataracts. Mr. Han, the patient who underwent the surgery, had a cataract in his left eye along with astigmatism, with a visual acuity of 0.1 and a corneal astigmatism of 300 degrees. Since the patient had corneal astigmatism, he needed an IOL that could also solve the problem of astigmatism. After a detailed preoperative examination, Professor Jinsong Zhang led the hospital's cataract treatment team to customize a surgical plan for the patient.
On the first day after the surgery, Mr. Han's vision in his left eye had
recovered to nearly 0.8. "At present, I feel that I can see very well. I
used to see things very blurred in both eyes, but now I can see clearly when I
look at my cell phone, read books and watch TV. I am very grateful to President
Zhang for his superb and exquisite medical skills and all the medical staff for
their warm care for me, an old comrade, which has brought light and happiness
to my life." Mr. Han said happily.
