The number of SCI papers of AIER School of Ophthalmology CSU ranks among the top 20 in China

Recently, 《The quantitative and qualitative analysis report of Chinese ophthalmology institutions ophthalmology papers in 2020》said that "looking back on the unordinary year of 2020, Chinese ophthalmology has rang the bell in the world". This report is based on search of published literature, summarized and analyzed the articles in English and Chinese core journals of ophthalmology in China.

AIER School of Ophthalmology, Central South University ranked among the top 20 in terms of the number of SCI papers published, In the top 10 hot areas, Professor Jiansu Chen, PhD supervisor of AIER School of Ophthalmology, Central South University, and Deputy Director of AIER Institute of Ophthalmology, Hunan Province, has become the representative of English papers in this field.


6.jpgTop 10 diseases concerned by Chinese Ophthalmology Research Institutions in 2020


In the report, through the analysis by the frequency of keywords, the journal of 《Ophthalmology》 revealed the top 10 eye diseases or fields with high frequency of occurrence, which reflects the direction of attention of ophthalmologists to a certain extent. As we can see affected by the epidemic, COVID-19 is the focal point of it, other eye diseases or areas of great concern are diabetic retinopathy , glaucoma, cataracts, myopia,  xerophthalmia, uveal melanoma, artificial intelligence (processing of fundus image data), retinoblastoma and corneal related diseases,  in sequential order.


In the English papers of the top 10 diseases concerned by Chinese Ophthalmology Research Institutions in 2020,

Professor Jiansu Chen, PhD supervisor of AIER College of Ophthalmology, published the paper as the corresponding author《Muse cell spheroids have therapeutic effect on corneal scarring wound in mice and tree shrews》 Impact Factor 16.304 on《 Sci Transl Med 》, which is the representative in the field of keratopathy.



In 2020, the graduate supervisors of AIER College of Ophthalmology has made great achievements in scientific research and excellent publications in top international journals

, such as Professor Shibo Tang in《Stem cell research》、《Frontiers In Physiology》, Professor Zhikuan Yang in《Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science》、《Frontiers in Neuroscience》. Professor Lin Ding in《drug design, development and therapy 》, Professor Wensheng Li in《Orphanet Journal of Rare Diseases》、《Experimental Eye Research》, Professor Shaowei Li in《Journal of Refractive Surgery》, Professor Shaomin Peng in《Experimental eye research》, Professor Weizhong Lan in《American Journal of Ophthalmology》, Professor Xuejun Fang in《Journal of Refractive Surgery》, and Professor Jianhua Wu in《Acta Ophthalmologica》.



In 2013, AIER and Central South University jointly set up AIER School of Ophthalmology, CSU, to educate and train medical professionals with advanced degrees,which opened a new era for social capital to be involved in medical education. With a total number of more than 600 specialized eye hospitals and centers all over the world, AIER has bridged all three areas of medicine, education, and research, the establishment of these educational and research institutions has significantly boost the research and clinical standards, the colleges made new breakthroughs in academic and scientific research in 2020, it was an absolutely extraordinary year. In the New Year, AIER will stay true to its original aspiration and make more contributions to the human eye health. Actually, In the past year, AIER School of Ophthalmology, CSU has not only trained 12 doctors and 35 masters in China's ophthalmology industry, but also achieved 24 papers included in SCI journals, and 18 papers above 4 points has published in internationally recognized top-class academic journal.
