Strategic Alliance Formed Between Jinan University & AIER to Build a First-class Platform for Ophthalmology

On June 5, Jinan University and AIER Eye Hospital Group held a signing ceremony in Guangzhou. The two sides signed a cooperation agreement together and unveiled the three core hospitals in the Greater Bay Area jointly built in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Dongguan. In the future, the two parties will promote the establishment of a series of cooperation such as "Jinan University School of Ophthalmology and Optometry" to achieve a strong alliance and strive to build a first-class, internationally renowned ophthalmology industry-university research platform in China.

Leaders of Jinan University and senior executives of AIER Eye Hospital Group attended the signing ceremony. In his speech, Mr. Lin Rupeng, secretary of the Party Committee of Jinan University, hoped that both parties would take this cooperation as an opportunity to give play to the institutional advantages of university-enterprise cooperation and promote the development of ophthalmology. He said that he hopes that the two parties will complement each other's resources in medicine, education, and research, complete the high-end grafting between industrial capital and high-quality educational resources, and achieve win-win through this strategic cooperation.

Mr. Chen Bang, chairman of AIER Eye Hospital Group, emphasized that our country is currently working hard to promote the construction of the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" and the "Belt and Road" initiative. The strategic cooperation between Jinan University and AIER faces rare historical opportunities. Mr. Chen Bang also said that AIER in Guangdong Province will rely on Jinan University's strong faculty and scientific research strength to achieve coordinated development of medical education and research, improve clinical research capabilities, and strive to build a "Medical Center of ophthalmology in Greater Bay Area".

It is reported that the strategic cooperation between Jinan University and AIER includes the establishment of three core regional hospitals in the Greater Bay Area:

Guangzhou AIER Affiliated Eye Hospital of Jinan University, Shenzhen AIER Affiliated Eye Hospital of Jinan University, Dongguan AIER Affiliated Eye Hospital of Jinan University.

In addition, the two parties will set up the AIER School of Optometry, Jinan University to integrate high-quality resources and carry out innovative cooperation in training students, introducing talent, sharing resource, and constructing platform.


In the future, the two parties will work towards the joint direction of building AIER International Medical Center, Jinan University and a full-chain Production-Academic-Research platform of basic-clinic-industry.

 

The two sides signed a cooperation agreement together and unveiled the three core hospitals in the Greater Bay Area jointly built in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Dongguan.

 

Jinan University is hailed as the "the highest academic institution for overseas Chinese". It is a national "double first-class" university jointly established by the United Front Department of CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and the government of Guangdong Province, directly managed by the United Front Department of CPC Central Committee.


As a global listed eye medical institution covering Asia, the United States, and Europe, AIER has three listed companies in China (stock code: 300015) ,Europe (Spain: CBAV), and Southeast Asia (Singapore: 40T) with a total number of more than 500 specialized eye hospitals and centers that includes more than 100 overseas hospitals, serving nearly 3 billion people in Asia, America and Europe.


The achievements of this strategic cooperation have opened a new journey for both parties to jointly improve the development of ophthalmology and create a first-class Production-Academia-Research platform for ophthalmology.
